A real life.
A chosen name.
Andrea Morel is a pen name. It does not hide a character or invent a biography: it is the name chosen to sign these pages while allowing private life the right to remain, at least in part, private.
Behind the name is a real person, who has moved through work, love, friendship, departures, returns, mistakes and change. Some of those experiences enter the stories. Others remain outside them.
Not everything that is true has to become public. And not everything that remains private is any less true.
02 · WHY MOREL
The distance needed
to tell a story.
MOREL creates enough distance to write freely without turning a life into permanent display. The stories may begin with me, with someone encountered, with a photograph, a place or a question.
But if they end up being only about me, they have missed something. The writer brings one experience. The reader brings another. Somewhere between the two, MOREL begins.
03 · A VOICE, NOT A POSE
Not a promise
of consistency.
MOREL is interested in contradictions, changes of direction, the right to change your mind and to leave a dream without calling it failure.
A story can be deep without becoming heavy. It can use irony without becoming cynical. It can scratch without attacking.
It does not want to tell the reader what to think; it wants to leave enough space for one question: where does this meet me?
04 · THREADS
Thoughts do not
have to stay alone.
MOREL is not built as a tidy archive, but as a network of thoughts. Threads help an idea change form: a song can lead to an identity, a photograph to a home, a small object to a memory.
An article does not truly end when the page ends. It can change rooms.

Images do not only
illustrate.
The photographs belong to the same lived world as the writing. Sometimes a place says enough on its own; at other times the image opens a story that was not yet ready to be written.
They are not decoration. They are doors.

06 · POP CULTURE
The future tried on
its costumes.
Music, images, television, bodies and public characters do not appear here as nostalgia. They help us understand what the present inherited, what it mistranslated and what it keeps repeating without remembering where it came from.
Pop culture did not only entertain us. It trained us for the future, but with much more soul than the future would later have.
07 · INTIMACY AND MYSTERY
Not everything needs
to be fully explained.
MOREL writes about relationships, desire, solitude, distance and encounters without treating them as problems to solve by the next paragraph.
Intimacy can be told without being displayed. The reader should sense it, not receive everything already explained.
08 · ITALIAN AND ENGLISH
Two languages,
the same voice.
MOREL lives in Italian and English. Not as a literal translation of every experience, but as two ways of letting a story find its own rhythm.
The language changes. The gaze remains.
